As we all know babies have their own ideas about when they’re ready to enter this world, so working out when to do your maternity photo shoot is a little bit of science and a little bit of art. Why it’s never too late to do newborn photos, it’s impossible to do maternity photos once your baby is born. For this reason, we like to schedule your maternity photos between 30 and 36 weeks.
By aiming for that window, we can celebrate the contours of your body – during a time period when you’re still feeling really great and not worried about going into labour and you can move safely around while we do the photos.
We want your bump to be nice and large without you feeling all uncomfortable. After 36 weeks we tend to find mums find their bellies just that bit more awkward to move around with, and we want you to enjoy your photoshoot time with us.
When deciding on what to wear for your maternity photos, we highly recommend you choose something that fits well. It might be tempting to wear something floaty and lose, but this just tends to hide your bump and make your look bigger, not emphasize it. Instead, we recommend you wear something that is form-fitting so we can really show off your beautiful bump.
Not sure what to wear, we have a small range of maternity gowns that you are welcome to use for any maternity photoshoots with us. We will show you these gowns and talk you through the process during your pre-session consult.
