If you’ve spent any time around here you’ll know that as a Pukekohe newborn and family photographer, I understand the importance of cherishing and showcasing your precious moments through printed art. Whether it’s those adorable newborn portraits or cherished family milestones, finding the perfect way to display your memories can bring joy and warmth to your home. I’m a huge believer in printed photos after all, digitals just won’t stand the test of time so your grandchildren and even great-grandchildren can have the pleasure of seeing their family history. In this blog post, we’ll explore different ways to showcase your photos, from creating stunning wall galleries to utilizing tabletop frames. Let’s dive in and turn your house into a gallery of beautiful memories!
Wall galleries are an excellent way to create a focal point and transform a plain wall into a captivating display. Begin by selecting a variety of frames in different sizes and styles that complement your home decor. Arrange them on the floor first, experimenting with different layouts until you find the perfect arrangement. Once you’re satisfied, measure and mark the positions on the wall before hanging each frame. Be creative with your selection, mixing newborn portraits, family photos, and candid moments to tell a story through your gallery.
If you’re one of our clients we will take the hard work out of this for you and design the perfect pieces to hang in your home. We even have software where we can show you exactly what the images will look like at the correct size on your wall before you buy. Our aim is to make this process as simple as possible (and we always take into consideration the option to add to your wall gallery with future photos)
Collages are a fantastic option for displaying multiple photos in one frame. Choose a collage frame that suits your style and preferences, and then carefully select a collection of complementary images. You can group photos by theme, such as capturing different stages of your child’s growth or highlighting specific family vacations. Collages are not only visually appealing but also a great space-saving solution, allowing you to showcase a variety of memories within a limited area. A lot of frame suppliers will have collage frames ready for you, or alternatively, you could design your own collage using the likes of Canva and then get it printed as a single piece on either canvas or framed. Canva has some awesome templates of grids to get you started.
Don’t limit yourself to traditional frames! Explore alternative options to add a touch of creativity to your photo displays. Did you know we offer our clients photos printed directly onto metal! There are so many cool ways you can print your photos now including acrylic and wood. You could even use repurposed items like vintage windows or shutters, or clipboards as. a fun way to display your photos. You can find these treasures at flea markets or craft stores.
Your photos don’t need to be limited to being displayed on your walls. Tabletop frames are perfect for adding personality to your shelves, mantels, or bedside tables. Choose frames that complement your decor style and select a mix of photos that capture your most cherished moments. These are great for smaller images that you absolutely love but maybe don’t want printed large on the wall, or for those of you who are renting and aren’t allowed to put photos on the wall. Just because you can’t use the walls doesn’t mean you can’t surround yourself with images of those you love the most.
In this digital age, digital photo frames provide a modern and convenient way to display your memories. These frames allow you to showcase a slideshow of your favourite photos, constantly refreshing the display and keeping your space dynamic. You can choose from various sizes and designs, and some frames even come with features like Wi-Fi connectivity to easily transfer photos from your phone or computer.
Or perhaps you have one of the cool new Frame TVs like we do. I love having our family photos on an ever-changing slideshow on our TV. And with the joy of it having a frame, it looks like a picture frame hanging over the fireplace (when the TV is turned off) rather than just having an ugly TV there.
Don’t limit your photo displays to the walls and shelves alone! Get creative and think outside the box when it comes to showcasing your memories. Consider incorporating photos in unexpected places like the bathroom, laundry room, or even the kitchen. Hang a gallery of family photos in the hallway, create a magnet board on your fridge for quick and easy photo swaps, or design a memory wall in your child’s room. You could even include some of your kid’s favourite art pieces to make their wall gallery truly unique. I have a friend whose downstairs toilet has a wall of art prints, photos and sayings. I love it it’s so unique and a very cool way to share some of their favourite memories – be careful though cause you’re friends might spend ages in your toilet just looking at everything!
With these ideas in your creative arsenal, you can transform your home into a gallery of cherished memories. From wall galleries that captivate your guests to tabletop frames that warm your heart, there are countless ways to showcase your photos in a way that reflects your unique style and personality. As a Pukekohe newborn and family photographer, it brings me joy to know that your memories are not only preserved but also proudly displayed for everyone to see.
Happy decorating!
